Tyson Park Redevelopment
Tyson Park updates are coming soon! Construction will take place from June through Oct. 2026. During construction, the park will be fully closed. Check back for additional project updates.
Final Park Design
The new Tyson Park will feature a brand-new playground, basketball court, a soccer open-play area, sidewalks, a new wood-chip running path, a covered picnic shelter, drinking fountain, and a community garden.

Funding
Funding for Tyson Park upgrades comes from nearly $700,000 in grant awards, a $200,000 gift from Willamalane Park Foundation, and system development charges.
Community Feedback
The improvements identified were informed by meetings, focus groups, and hundreds of survey responses. Emergency access routes were added to meet updated City of Springfield code requirements. Timeline
- Feb.-March 2024: Community members provided input on future improvements to Tyson Park through surveys, meetings, and focus groups.
- April 2024-Sept. 2025: Additional funding was secured, and the project moved through land use review and updated permitting requirements with the City of Springfield. Emergency access routes were added to the design, extending the original project timeline.
- Fall 2025-Winter 2026: The project underwent the permitting process.
- December 16, 2025: A virtual neighborhood meeting shared the updated project timeline and proposed final park design. Watch the recording.
- April 2026: The project opened for construction bidding.
- June-Oct. 2026: Construction will take place at Tyson Park, and the park will be fully closed during this time.
- End of Oct. 2026: Estimated completion for Tyson Park redevelopment work.
