Safety Information

Willamalane is implementing extensive measures around physical distancing and sanitation to keep students, families, and staff as safe as possible as we follow all current guidelines and recommendations.
What changes did you make for preschool this fall?
We are maintaining smaller, stable group sizes. Each class will have the required ratio of staff to children. We will be encouraging physical distancing in classes as much as possible and have implemented thorough sanitation processes and illness monitoring protocols.
Will Willamalane track any illness symptoms or outbreaks?
Yes. We will be checking for symptoms of new coughs or fevers for anyone entering the area where there are students. All students must have their temperature taken before entering the class area. If we suspect an illness or infection, we will isolate the student and contact a parent or guardian, so they can go home.
If a student or staff, or anyone in their household, has recently had an illness with a fever or a new cough, they should remain at home until:
  • At least ten days after illness onset,
  • 24 hours after the fever is gone without using fever-reducing medicine,
  • Symptoms are improving.
Students or staff who have had direct exposure to COVID-19, will not be able to return until 14 days after the exposure, assuming they do not exhibit symptoms. We will also be keeping daily logs for each stable group to help identify anyone at-risk, should there be any illness associated with a student or staff member.
What policies are in place for Willamalane staff and teachers taking care of students?
Staff will interact with the same group of students. Willamalane staff have received thorough training of all new safety and program protocols, including policies around face coverings and increased sanitation. Read more about what safety measures Willamalane staff are taking.
Will students and teachers have to wear face coverings?
Children in kindergarten and up must wear a face covering at all times while indoors, and outdoors when physical distancing cannot take place. Younger children may wear a face covering, if a parent requests this. This is in accordance with new state rules.  All staff interacting with patrons must all wear masks while indoors or while unable to maintain a six-foot difference while outdoors.
What changes to pick-up and drop-off are you making?
Once your family is registered, we will share check-in information, drop off and pick-up sites, and any other information families will need to know. Parents will remain outside of the school area for drop off and pick up.
What sanitation procedures are you taking?
We are closely following and staying up-to-date on statewide and industry guidelines to keep our students, families, and staff safe. To keep us all healthy, we have developed guidelines for daily health checks, physical distancing, handwashing, sanitizing items, classroom cleaning, adjusted activities, meals and snacks, and drop off and pick up.
