Wild Iris Ridge Park
This is a newer segment of Eugene’s Ridgeline Trail system. Enjoy seeing wild irises, Spencer Butte, and the West Eugene Wetlands. The trail is rated moderate, with some steep sections. 3.2-mile round trip. 616 ft elevation gain.

Willamette Confluence Preserve Tour
Join McKenzie River Trust and Friends of Buford Park on a four-hour tour of the Willamette Confluence Preserve and Turtle Flats. The 1,400-acre preserve features six miles of river corridor, floodplain forest, wetlands, upland oak woodlands, native prairie, and endangered habitats. The tour will highlight conservation efforts, human history, and natural features.

Birding Trips

Birding Central Oregon Coast 
The central Oregon coast is an ideal year-round habitat for a wide variety of birds including shorebirds, waterfowl, wading birds, raptors, and songbirds. This trip will include both estuaries and coastal areas. Register in advance. Bring a sack lunch and beverage.

Birding Ankey & Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge

We will visit two of the three refuges that make up the Willamette Valley National Wildlife Refuge. This complex with its oak savannas, native prairies, and wetlands, preserves habitat for wintering Dusky Canada geese. On this trip, we can expect to see a wide variety of waterfowl species as well as wading and shorebirds, raptors, and songbirds. Register in advance. Bring a sack lunch and beverage.

Birding Malheur National Wildlife Refuge
A premier birding area in the United States, Malheur boasts huge numbers and varieties of overwintering birds. An oasis in the high desert region of the Pacific Flyway, Malheur is a magnet for hungry and migration-weary birds of all kinds. Two nights of lodging at the Malheur Field Station, which is located adjacent to the refuge, are included. For beginning to intermediate birders. Be prepared for lots of walking. All meals except for day one lunch are included. No full refunds are guaranteed after 5/10.
