Springfilm: “Jurassic Park”
Springfilm is a chance for our community to gather once a month at the Wildish Theater, enjoy a movie, and talk about it afterward. Free!
In August, join us for “Jurassic Park,” rated PG-13, 1993. In Steven Spielberg's massive blockbuster, paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill) and Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA. While the park's mastermind, billionaire John Hammond (Richard Attenborough), assures everyone that the facility is safe, they find out otherwise when various ferocious predators break free and go on the hunt.

Lecture: Bone Builders and Bone Breakers

Kristin McKenzie Gallery Reception
See the gallery exhibit for Kristin McKenzie's stained glass art during the Springfield Second Friday Art Walk. Complimentary beer, wine, and light refreshments will be provided. Reception includes live music from pianist Steven Reiser.
Kristin McKenzie's contemporary works add a modern twist to medieval techniques, and scenic and custom pieces incorporate natural elements. Stained glass art includes shells, rocks, and agate slices to transform the piece with brilliant beams of light and color. McKenzie is always looking for the next unique element to put in her pieces and challenge her sense of design.

Join us for unique outdoor fitness classes at Dorris Ranch. After meeting at the historic Tomseth House, we’ll take a warm-up walk through the orchards. Then a Willamalane fitness instructor will lead a workout that will strengthen and center you. After each class, participants can join us for a healthy and nourishing light breakfast. These classes repeat monthly, June through November. Sign up for each class individually.

Girls Night Out Under the Stars
Grades 6-8. This overnight camping trip is a great way to introduce middle school girls to the outdoors in a non-intimidating environment. We will start our day with introductions at Ruff Park parking lot, then head into the park to set up camp. We’ll spend our evening learning basic camping skills, creating art, stargazing, and sharing stories and s'mores around the campfire. All gear and food provided. Participants will need to supply clothes, pillow, and basic hygiene items.

SAfER's 25th Anniversary Celebration: Fiesta con Nuestros Vecinos
The SAfER Celebration is a Latinx Fiesta to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER). It will be a family event with children's and art activities, music, and refreshments.
A partner to Willamalane, SAfER’s mission is to promote human rights, respond when abuses of human dignity occur, and urge public institutions to address social justice concerns.

Aquatics Hiring Event
Lifeguards and swim instructors are in high demand at Willamalane! At this hiring event, candidates will get to know each other, learn about the day-to-day of the job, and have an interview. Those who are hired will take a certification course and training, which is covered by the district and on paid time.

Lecture: Aging with Courage
Ages 18+. Join Anne Maggs, Professor Emerita at Bushnell University, as she discusses her book, “I Never Died Before: A Survival Guide to Aging and Beyond.” The book’s premise is that aging is a natural process, not a medical emergency. The session will include an exercise on how to write an open letter to your future health care team. Advance registration is required.

Springfilm: “Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade”
Springfilm is a chance for our community to enjoy a movie and talk about it afterward. This month, we're holding a special movie out at the barn at Dorris Ranch. Free!
In September, join us for “Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusade,” rated PG-13, 1993. The intrepid explorer Indiana Jones sets out to rescue his father, a medievalist who has vanished while searching for the Holy Grail. Following clues in the old man's notebook, Indy arrives in Venice, where he enlists the help of a beautiful academic, but they are not the only ones who are on the trail, and some sinister old enemies soon come out of the woodwork.
