Park Updates

Upcoming closure at Dorris Ranch: May 8-9

The orchards at Dorris Ranch will be closed starting Wednesday, May 8 at 6 a.m., to treat the orchards for tree suckers using Reckon. While the orchards will be closed, the park, paths, and facilities at Dorris Ranch will remain open. Please abide by posted closure signs. The orchards are expected to reopen on Thursday, May 9. Learn more at here: Dorris Ranch page.

Ice Storm Recovery Updates

The January ice storm heavily impacted Willamalane parks. Some Willamalane parks, natural areas, and paths are closed. For an interactive map of district parks, view the park status map. To report park damage, call (541) 736-4544.

Parks are deemed “open” when partial or full access to the park is possible. Developed areas of open parks, like playgrounds, basketball courts, and paved paths, have been cleared unless noted below. However, debris and marked hazard areas may still be present elsewhere. Please use caution and pay attention to posted signs when visiting parks.

Even with the hard work of Willamalane staff, outside contractors, and volunteer crews, it may be several months before all debris is cleared and all parks are back in full operation.

Notes on Open Parks

  • Dorris Ranch - The graveled paths and natural-surface trail from the main area, through the orchard, and along the river that connects to the Middle Fork Path is open. The oak woodland trail is also open. All other paths and orchard areas are still closed while we assess the best way to handle the extensive damage to the orchards and forested areas.
  • Jasper Meadows Park - Natural areas remain closed.
  • Thurston Hills Natural Area – Upper and Lower Mossy, Basalt Rim, Cascadian Thumb – all HIKING trails are now open. All Mountain Biking Trails are still closed. Park users should proceed with caution and be aware that there is still storm debris around the trails and impacts on the trail bed are still present.

These parks will remain closed:
