Chris Wig, Renee Jones, Greg James Elected to Willamalane Board of Directors
On May 21, 2019, following a Lane County Special Election, Lane Transit District marketing representative Renee Jones was elected as the newest member of the Willamalane Board of Directors. Jones was elected along with incumbents Chris Wig and Greg James. Wig was tabbed in January to fill the remaining term of outgoing board member Janis Ross. James has served on the Willamalane board since January 2003. Jones will serve a two-year term while Wig and James receive four-year appointments.
Renee Jones grew up in Eugene and received degrees from North Eugene High School and Lane Community College. She has served on the Willamalane Park Foundation, the LCC English as a Second Language Advisory Board, the SMART Reading Advisory Board, and the BRING Home and Garden Tour planning committee. Renee and her husband Scott have four adult children and two dogs and enjoy spending time in the beautiful outdoors.
Chris Wig received his undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Toronto and his master’s degree from the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication. Chris serves our community as a member of the Intergovernmental Housing Policy Board and a founding member of Grupo Latino de Acción Directa.
Greg James attended Springfield High School, Lane Community College, Portland Community College, and Linfield College. Greg has volunteered on the Lane Council of Governments executive board and the Springfield Planning Commission. He enjoys playing his five-string banjo and guitar. He and his wife, Branda, have two adult children and two grandchildren.
