Advance registration begins Oct. 12
SPRINGFIELD – Willamalane Park and Recreation District announces Willamalane’s Halloween Extravaganza — a Spooktacular October. The Halloween activities offer expanded family-friendly opportunities for safer Halloween celebrations this October.
Willamalane is hosting a Drive-thru Haunted Hayride and two Ghostly Golf mini golf events. These are low-contact events in line with current safety guidelines. Groups should be limited to household members only. Registration opens for all events on October 12 at 8 a.m. Full details are available at Willamalane.org/Halloween.
Willamalane staff are eager and excited to deliver the fun, family-friendly spirit of Halloween in these new formats. “Halloween is something our community looks forward to every year, and we are confident that these events will give families some new options” said Michael Wargo, Willamalane Superintendent. “We want everyone to exercise caution while having fun this October”
Drive-thru Haunted Hayride
Willamalane will hold a modified version of its annual Haunted Hayride Oct. 22-24 at Dorris Ranch. The event has historically offered a group hayride through the trails of Dorris Ranch with hands-on activities for families. This year, riders will remain in their own vehicles to meet safety guidelines. Attendees will drive their vehicle through a loop at Dorris Ranch, stopping at entertainment stations featuring local circus-themed performers, take-home goodies, and more.
Ghostly Golf at Camp Putt
Ghostly Golf is a two-night, after-hours event new in 2020. The courses at Camp Putt will be covered in lights, gravestones, and spooky ambiance. Safety considerations will mirror standard operations at Camp Putt, and on top of regular considerations, attendees will pre-register to ensure adequate space between groups and time to enjoy the decorated course.
