Guide to Spring Break in Springfield

Looking for ways to keep the family busy during spring break? Here are some fun activities that are happening while kids are on spring break from March 19-27, 2022.

1. Play a Round of Mini Golf
Camp Putt is open for spring break! Take a swing at an outdoorsy, 18-hole mini golf course in Glenwood. After spring break, Camp Putt will be open on the weekends until summer hours begin in June.

Friday, March 18: 4-7 p.m.
Saturday, March 19-Sunday, March 27: 12-7 p.m.
Hours are weather dependent.

2. Go Swimming
Head to the pool for a recreation or waterpark swim every day! Splash! at Lively Park and Willamalane Park Swim Center will be open to families on alternating days from March 20-26, so you can swim at the pool that is most convenient to you. See facility hours at the links above.

3. Play Sports
If you love roller skating, bouldering, basketball, and more, Bob Keefer Center is a great spot to play. Drop-in hours are available all through spring break. Just give the front desk a heads-up by calling before you come so they can make sure your court is available for your activity.

4. Get Outside
Have you explored all 46 parks in Springfield? Head to the Park Directory and filter by your favorite amenities. Using the search tool, you can discover new trails, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, and more.

5. Play Video Games
If your middle schooler loves Mario Kart, Minecraft, Smash Bros., or Rocket League, treat them to an hour of their favorite games with a positive community of gamers their age. A staff coach will supervise the action, giving tips on how to improve their skills.

Video Game Nights are Thursdays from 6:15-7:15 p.m.

6. Visit the Library
Springfield Public Library holds so much more than just shelves of fiction and nonfiction. During spring break, they are hosting a bilingual storytime for preschool-age children, a book club for tweens, and a special family-friendly showing of Jumanji at the Wildish Theater. Plus, the librarians love to make recommendations of books, graphic novels, and audio and video resources that you can check out and enjoy.

7. Go on a Mural Tour
Downtown Springfield is full of gorgeous public art. Take a self-guided tour using the Springfield Arts Commission’s mural tour map, or check out the UpStream Art paintings that brighten up stormwater drains.
