U.S. Olympic Trials Race Walk Event Fan-ee Pack
The Olympic Racewalk trials are coming to Springfield this summer! Reserve your "Fan-ee Pack" to get a space along the course to enjoy the race, cheer on your favorite athlete, and share your Olympic spirit.

TrackGirlz Street Race
Thanks to support from Team Springfield, the first 40 middle and high school girls to sign up will have the chance to do a 100- or 200-meter race on the official U.S. race walk course! Registration includes a training program that will be given to attendees along with in-person sessions from Olympian Mechelle Lewis Freeman and Wellness Coach Jennifer Nash Forrester.

Eugene-based jam band Left On Wilson will play original music in a gorgeous riverfront park setting.

Brice Creek Falls Hike: A 4-5 mile out-and-back along the scenic and rocky Brice Creek. The trail winds through old growth forest before heading adjacent to the Brice Creek canyon and then to an overlook on a beautiful waterfall. On this summer’s day, we’ll trek beside waterfalls and pools. Elevation gain is less than 500 feet. The highlight of this hike is the falls.

Sweet Creek Falls Hike: Sweet Creek Falls is a classic Oregon hike near Mapleton and beautiful year-round.  We will enjoy a shady hiking trail along Sweet Creek, passing numerous small waterfalls, bridges, and a metal walkway over the creek itself.   Our turn-around point is Sweet Creek Falls, a multi-tiered waterfall. Three miles with 350 feet of elevation gain make this hike friendly for a variety of abilities.

Night of a Million Stars
Join our friends from the Eugene Astronomical Society for a night of stargazing under the darkness of the new moon. Through their high magnification telescopes, you will be able to view the planets, constellations, and maybe even the international space station! Great for all ages.

McKenzie River Waterfall Loop Hike: Enjoy stunning blue-green pools along both sides of the McKenzie River as it plunges over  Sahalie and Koosah Falls down to Carmen Reservoir.   You loop both falls from both sides of the McKenzie River. This makes for a rewarding beginner's hike, which begs you to stop often to appreciate the stunning beauty along its path. Three miles, 400-foot elevation.

Willamette River Festival
The City of Springfield is joining the Willamette River Festival and honoring the Willamette River! This August, Springfield is offering three ways to connect to the Willamette River and participate in the Willamette River Festival.

Erma Bell Lakes Hike: Erma Bells Lake and waterfalls hike is an easy 4.2-mile round trip. We will travel on fairly even ground through a wooded area for 1.5 miles to lower Erma Bell Lake for a short break where we can view the steep banks, deep waters, and volcanic flows of the past. Next, we are off to the moss-covered rocks and splashing waters of Middle Erma Bell waterfalls. Pushing forward to Middle Erma Bell lake, which is a much shallower lake with a beach-like area, where if inclined you can wade in the cool waters.

The Springfield Public Library and Springfield History Museum is welcoming submissions for its “Springfield A to Z” Art Contest. Enter your original artwork for a chance to be featured in a book celebrating the story of Springfield!
