Grades 6-8. Willamalane's continued partnership with Springfield Public Schools has kept after-school sports programs running at Springfield-area middle schools. Spring sports include boys and girls soccer, and boys and girls track. Track season includes the Hershey’s Track Meet at Silke Field. Fall season sports include boys flag football, girls volleyball and boys and girls cross country. Winter sports are boys and girls basketball. View the athletic calendar. The mission of Total Release Basketball is to provide young men and women the opportunity to develop the lifelong learning skills and character to become positive, contributing citizens of society. Ages 12-18. In these two-part series, Cabela’s experts will help teach the basics of shooting with bow and arrow. During the first class, we’ll share the fundamentals required to be successful at hitting the bull’s-eye shot after shot and break down features of bows, arrows, accessories, and how to tune each for optimal arrow flight and accuracy. At the end of the first class, students will hit the range for a short shooting session. In the second class, our focus will be on shooting, including aiming, bow grip, follow-through and more. Attendees must attend an instruction class prior to attending a shooting class. Limited to 10 people. Free. Advance registration required.

Youth Intro to Hockey
Ages 4-13. Designed for new children interested in developing hockey skills. No experience is necessary. The Willamalane Tennis Program is open to players of all experience levels, from the novice to the advanced. Instruction includes fundamentals, drills, rules, positioning, strategy and singles/doubles games. Click here to learn more.
All ages. The outdoor skatepark at Willamalane Park is a place where area youth can have an appropriate place to practice their sport and gather with their peers at no cost. This skatepark features chunky, abrupt shapes with definite corners. And doesn't that one look like a picnic table? Yes, that is a "picnic table" in the middle, right in front of a set of "stairs" and across from a very real fire hydrant. This "street-style" skatepark looks more like the real world, and it's just what Springfield skaters told designers they wanted.
Age 14+. Core is a conditioning class that aims to increase the strength and endurance of your core muscles (abdominals, lower back, and hip complex). Exercise mats provided. Willamalane Center members save 20 percent. Advance registration required.No class 11/27, 12/25.

We know climbing is fun, but we also know that it can be hard to get started if you don’t have a skilled partner. Challenge yourself and your friends to Race to the Top! Summit nine local peaks in the comfort of Willamalane Center. (Each climb to the top of the wall is about 33 feet). Participants receive a T-shirt after completing each separate challenge. Complete “Top the Towers” with 28 total climbs, complete “Coast Range Rush” in 125 total climbs and complete “Peak Challenge” in 338 total climbs. Climbing is permitted during Open Climb. Complete all three challenges to become a Master Peak Bagger! Participants track their own progress. Coast Range Rush
These private sessions are your chance to fine-tune your skills and improve overall fitness with specific curriculum adjusted to your needs. By appointment for individuals and small groups.
$35/hour for one- to two-hour session

Treat your friends, co-workers and family to a climbing outing! No experience is necessary. In this two-hour session, your group will learn the basics of climbing and belaying, with lots of time just for fun. Sessions can be scheduled anytime by appointment, and activities are adjusted to specific group needs. Call

Grades 6-12. Gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants through school-age children. This class addresses safety issues, prevention of injuries and illnesses, basic child care, first aid, decision-making skills and age-appropriate behavior and play. Participants receive a reference handbook, text aid and a how-to CD that will help them write resumes and track professional information. A certification card will be issued upon successful completion. Bring a sack lunch. Class minimum: six.

Ages 8-11. This Red Cross course prepares children to respond safely to a variety of situations when direct parent supervision is unavailable. Participants will role play answering the phone and the door and discuss gun, Internet and personal safety. Participants will also learn basic first aid.

Ages 15+. This Oregon Department of Transportation-approved program consists of 34 hours of classroom instruction, six hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, six hours of observation in the vehicle and two hours of parent education. Students must have a valid Oregon permit at the time of registration. Mandatory parent/teen meeting at first class. Ten hours of driving are required before the beginning of class. Adult students cannot earn a waiver card but will receive a Record of Attendance letter that can be taken to insurers. For questions and registration, call 541-342-4339. No class 11/11.
