Day Trips
Mt. Angel At the Abbey we’ll enjoy the midday prayer sung by the monks and take a self-guided tour of the beautiful premises, including a new bell tower and the famous library designed by world-renowned Finnish architect Alvar Aalto. Have lunch at a choice of restaurants in Mt. Angel and take a little time to check out the quaint downtown. Food is an added cost. (Some walking.)

Yachats We can’t guarantee that you’ll see whales, but who can resist the spectacular scenery at the coast? During this week guides at Cape Perpetua give information and help you try to spot whales. Have lunch at the historic Landmark Restaurant (formerly Beulah’s) in Yachats. We’ll stop for a look around Florence on the way back. Food is an added cost.

Albany You can be Scottish for a day at the delightful Scottish Heritage Festival held annually in Albany. If you really are Scottish you can find fellow clan members. Bagpipes, Highland dancing, men in kilts and Scottish activities all day long. Mary’s Kitchen serves a variety of Scottish foods, with the exception of haggis (sheep stomach)! Food is an added cost.

Depoe Bay Hungry for crab? Get cracking! This trip is so popular that we’re going both days. The annual Wooden Boat Show, Crab Feed and Ducky Derby is one of the most enjoyable food events on the beautiful Oregon Coast. Lunch includes a whole crab and all the fixings. Woodburn The Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival is always popular. Expect to see entertainers in Dutch costumes and flowers galore. Photo opportunities abound, and if you need to pick up some bulbs, this is the place. After lunch at the festival’s food booths, we’ll head to the Woodburn Outlets. Food is an added cost.

Ashland Our annual trip to Ashland is always memorable. Two amazing plays, a backstage tour, lovely downtown rooms at the Plaza Inn, and time to shop or stroll through Lithia Park. We’ll see world-class productions of “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” Tennessee Williams’ sizzling drama, and an adaptation of Jane Austen’s beloved “Pride and Prejudice.” These plays were selected by the people who attended our last Ashland trip.
