Restoring habitat along Willamalane waterways is one of the ways you can adopt a Willamalane park. Dig in!

Volunteers Clean Up
Members of American Veterans Post 116 gathered recently at Eastgate Woodlands to replace signs and install birdhouses. Pictured from left to right are Wade Woolard, Martin Praegitizer, Rusty Keller, Don Philo, and Jim Kern. The veterans contribute to the upkeep of Eastgate Woodlands through Willamalane’s Adopt A Park program.

Maybe you’d like to improve the trail in one of your favorite walking places. Maybe you’d like to restore habitat along the river. Or maybe you’d just like to join others in using their skills to improve our parks and open spaces. Here’s your chance.
The Willamalane Park and Recreation District oversees 34 parks and more than 700 acres of property. The Adopt A Park program gives volunteers the opportunity to participate in cleanup efforts, tree plantings, weeding, habitat improvement, and more. Join us in making our parks cleaner and greener.
Park volunteers become stewards of public lands by working to improve park areas in a meaningful way. Adopt A Park volunteers also gain recognition for their labor: A sign is erected in the adopted park noting their good deeds. Adopt A Park helps people help each other so that all may have better recreational opportunities. The talents of volunteers are used only to supplement the role of Willamalane Park Services staff.
You or your organization can adopt a park or a portion of trail
by volunteering to help over a specific period. To adopt a park:
Identify a park or trail you would like to adopt and the type of project
you would like to complete. Call the volunteer coordinator at 736-4104
for a list of potential projects.
Request an application form, complete the application, and return it. You
will then be contacted to discuss the project. Our parks staff will work
with you to identify park needs.
Once the “adoption” is approved, you’re ready to start. The volunteer coordinator is available to help you with questions and concerns.
