Dog Obedience Class/Canine Good Citizen Prep Class

Held at the Community Recreation Center, 250 S. 32nd Street, 736-4544.

Does your dog need manners? Do you want to learn how to understand your dog through better communication skills? Join Instructor Jan Bradfeldt of the Snow Creek Farm Obedience School and have your dog learn the basic commands sit, wait, heel, come, and down. This class will be an obedience/manners class to prepare students and dogs for the eight-week CGC training class. Held at the Community Recreation Center, 250 S. 32nd Street, 736-4544.

Fly Tying for Beginners

Create flies ranging from Woolly Buggers to nymphs and dry flies. “Hands-on” class covers basic materials, tools, and tying techniques. Supply list available. All tying materials provided. Preregister. Instructor: Chris Mihulka.

Chef’s Night Out

Join us for a fun evening at Mookie’s Restaurant. Learn from Chef Mook the secrets of how to prepare one of his specialty appetizers and main entrees. Of course you will be able to sample the creations along with receiving the recipes. Meet at Mookie’s, 1507 Centennial Blvd.

Fly-Fishing Introduction

Basics of fly-fishing covers equipment, casting, habitat, food, techniques, and strategies for fooling the fish. Must bring to each class wide-brimmed hat that encircles head and wrap-around glasses that protect all eye parts. Rods and reels provided. Other supplies discussed first class. Preregister. Learning Self-Hypnosis

Held at the Adult Activity Center, 215 West C Street, 736-4444.

Self-hypnosis is a skill that can be learned. It is a natural, self-directed altered state of consciousness used to instruct the mind/body to implement changes in your life. Examples: reduce stress, improve sleep, manage pain, modify unwanted habits, and increase concentration. Preregister by 6/2. Presenter: Carolyn Higgins, certified clinical hypnotherapist.

Spring Wildlife Hike

Discover the animals, both feathered and furry, that make Dorris Ranch their home. We’ll look for signs of spring: wild flowers, baby birds, slippery newts, and slimy banana slugs along our muddy, meandering trails. This is a drop-in program; no registration is required. Dress for the weather. Meet at the Barn.

Log Flipping

Come discover what lurks under a log. We will go in search of animals that make their home under logs in the forest and out in grassy fields.
