How to Register

Preregister for all trips in person at the Center or by phone (with VISA or MasterCard).

 

All trips depart from/return to the Center.

 

Most meals are an added cost.

 

All payments must be made at time of registration.

 

You have several methods of payment: cash, checks made payable to Willamalane, and MasterCard or VISA credit cards.

 

A Center representative will escort all bus trips.

 

If you must cancel, please contact us at least three business days prior to the trip. We will be happy to give you a refund. Late cancellations can only be refunded if we can fill your spot from a waiting list.

 

Give your ideas for trip destinations to Trish Phetteplace or Dorothy Velasco.

 

On the day of your trip, please park your car on C Street or Water Street.

 

If you own a cell phone, please bring it on each trip and give your number to the escort.

 

Please do not wear perfume on trips.

The Travel News is a four-page newsletter that is published quarterly. It will keep you up to date on all the travel opportunities available through the Center. You can receive a subscription at no charge, just by requesting it (4 issues per year).

The Grotto

Portland The beautiful Grotto, a world-famous Catholic sanctuary, is a favorite place to visit for holiday lights, but the gardens are a glorious attraction in the spring. We’ll see both the lower and upper levels, including an incredible 180° view through the glass wall of the spectacular Meditation Chapel. We’ll also spend a little time at the Columbia Gorge Premiere Outlets in Troutdale. Some walking. Food is an added cost.

Willamette Queen Cruise

Salem Enjoy a relaxing one-hour scenic cruise on the Willamette Queen riverboat, reminiscent of the days when Willamette River travel was only by steam-powered sternwheelers. We’ll have time for lunch and shopping in downtown Salem, and a visit to the lovely garden at Deepwood Estate. Food is an added cost.

Wildlife Images Rehabilitation & Education Center

Grants Pass This trip was a favorite last year. The Center cares for sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife. On 24 acres next to the Rogue River, animals include baby squirrels, rabbits, bobcats, black bears, and grizzly bears. Birds range from hummingbirds to eagles. This fascinating tour requires extensive outdoor walking. Food is an added cost.

Hatfield Marine Science Visitor Center

Newport Learn about the mysteries and joys of underwater life at this OSU study center, one of a handful of centers nationwide designated as a Coastal Ecosystem Learning Center. You’ll see some amazing creatures and marvel at their survival abilities. Also enjoy a walk on the beach and poking into attractive shops. Food is an added cost.

Blooms & Butterflies

Elkton Take an enchanting stroll among hundreds of butterflies in the flight room at the Butterfly Pavilion and learn about plants that attract butterflies. Walk through the 4.5-acre Native Park and the Cracked Pot Herb Garden. Check out plants, artwork, and gifts at the Gift Shop. We’ll have a good local lunch and will stop to see Fort Umpqua, currently under reconstruction. Food is an added cost.

Mystery Tour

Here and There This mystery tour is really different and lots of fun! We’ve never done it before. As a general rule we don’t repeat any of our mystery tours. A little walking is involved, so dress casually and wear comfortable shoes. Food is an added cost.

Aurora Colony Strawberry Social

Aurora Who can resist strawberry shortcake and ice cream? The Old Aurora Colony Museum is sponsoring its 38th annual Strawberry Social. Enjoy delicious refreshments, wool spinning demonstrations, free entrance to the museum, and live music. We’ll also stop at Fir Point Farm where you can purchase fresh produce. Cost includes refreshments. Lunch is an added cost.

Neuschwanstein castleImperial Cities and the Passion Play in Oberammergau, Germany

Explore the charming, historic Imperial cities of Central Europe. Combine great sightseeing, traditional entertainment, authentic Mozart dinner concert, and Passion Play performance. Highlights include Vienna, Budapest, Prague, and Salzburg. This world-famous Oberammergau Passion Play, which takes place every ten years, sells out months in advance. In order to reserve tickets and hold a spot on this tour, a $100 deposit is required at this time. Deposits will be refundable until final payment due date. Tour America’s “Second City,” Chicago, including the intriguing Field Museum. In Door County, Wisconsin, explore charming coastal villages and savor an authentic Fish Boil! Delight in picturesque Michigan’s Mackinac Island Grand Hotel. Since automobiles are not allowed, explore the Victorian-style island in a horse-drawn carriage. Frankenmuth, an enchanting Bavarian-style town, features the world’s largest Christmas store. At the amazing Ford Rouge Factory Tour in Southfield, tons of raw materials pour into one side of the complex and polished autos roll out the other. Highlights: Millennium Park, Green Bay, Charlevoix, Henry Ford Museum, and more.

Medford Jazz Festival

This event is amazing! Three days of Dixieland, Ragtime, Blues, and lots of Swing in six different Medford venues. You’ll have a pass that gets you into any performances you choose. Free shuttles take you to all the venues, and one with a dance floor is in our hotel, the Ramada Medford and Convention Center. We’ll also offer an optional field trip. Breakfasts and snack included; 3 lunches and 2 dinners not included.
