Watercolor Flowers and Still Lifes

Painting using a variety of media for all levels. Demonstrations include creating balanced compositions, values, harmony and textures. View video by Betty Carr about creative brushwork. Register. Instructor: Ellen Gabehart. No class 4/30, 5/25.

Techniques for Painting Texture

Add new effects and textures to your artwork using texture builders such as acrylic builder, sand, sawdust, wood chips and tool techniques. Building materials provided. Bring paint supplies, easel, 16”x20” canvas, plastic table cover (can be a large garbage bag) and sack lunch. Must have some painting experience. Instructor: Gloria Tinker. Register.

Spirelli Greeting Cards

Age 18 and up. The art of Spirelli thread embellishing started in the Netherlands. It involves wrapping specialty threads around notched shapes to create striking patterns. The shapes become the focal points on greeting cards, gift tags, in scrapbooks and more. Please bring scissors, glue stick and Scotch tape. Fee includes Spirelli shapes and material kits. Instructor: Kathy Paterson and Connie Greer, needle arts instructors. Register.

Plein Air Workshop

French for outdoor painting, Plein Air is a workshop where you will learn to create a unified composition while working outdoors. Discover working with a viewfinder (supplied) to help you choose the area you want to draw or paint. Also, explore mixing a variety of greens and adding textures. First class meets in the center lobby and then goes to Island Park to paint. Other sites to be discussed. Instructor: Ellen Gabehart. Register.
