Dorris Ranch Master Plan Update

Dorris RanchA Guidance Document for Twenty Years.

In 2008, the Dorris Ranch Master Plan update was completed by M.I.G. with input from community members and Willamalane staff. The plan reflects the community’s and Willamalane’s vision for the unique resources, facilities and activities found at Dorris Ranch.

In conjunction with the plan update, a Natural Resource Assessment and a Facilities Condition Observation Report were also completed. You will find these two reports as appendices to the Dorris Ranch Master Plan update. All of these are available at the links below.

Dorris Ranch Management Plan

gateA mini-plan for 2005-2008.

In 2005, the Dorris Ranch Planning Team worked with interested stakeholders and the Willamalane Board of Directors on developing a short-term management plan to assist with minimizing conflicts at the Dorris Ranch Living History Farm. The Management Plan was used until a Master Plan update was completed in 2008. The Management Plan provided input to the master planning process and is still available at the link below.

Park and Recreation System Development Charges

Park and Recreation SYSTEM DEVELOPMENT CHARGES are fees assessed on new development.

Their purpose is to fund all or a portion of capital facilities needed for growth, and to shift the burden of growth costs from current residents to new development.

The Oregon SDC Act requires a “methodology” for showing how SDCs are developed. Willamalane’s SDC Methodology was updated in 2006, and park and recreation SDC rates were set based on this analysis. The methodology provides for annual adjustments to the SDC rates, effective at the beginning of each new calendar year.

Documents detailing the new methodology and rates are available below. If you have questions about Willamalane's SDCs contact Rebecca Gershow at (541) 736-4052.

Lively Park Improvements

A colorful waterparkPlans include two group picnic shelters, a playground, and Springfield’s first dog park.

Work is underway at the 32-acre Jack B. Lively Memorial Park to add an exciting array of outdoor recreational amenities. Improvements include: two large group picnic shelters with cooking facilities, an 8,000 sq. ft. playground, and an almost 4-acre dog park. There will also be additional parking, sidewalks and site furnishings.

In addition to Willamalane’s system development charges, the project is being funded with cash donations from the Lively family, the Friends of Willamalane, and the Springfield chapter of Rotary International. A matching grant from the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department’s Local Government Grant Program will provide almost half of the necessary project funding. Thank you to our great project partners! Construction began in June 2009 and is scheduled for completion in the fall.

20-Year Comprehensive Plan

A generation of women.Willamalane’s Park and Recreation Comprehensive Plan (Comp Plan) was completed in 2004. The Comp Plan is our guide for the acquisition and development of new parks and facilities, and the rehabilitation of existing parks and facilities in the Springfield area over the next 20 years. It contains input from over 750 community members, and was adopted by the Willamalane Board of Directors, the Springfield City Council and the Lane County Board of Commissioners, making it an official part of the Eugene-Springfield Metro Area General Plan.
