| "I believe in programs for kids, adults, and seniors. I believe in community-based recreation and preserving open spaces and natural resources. I believe this District is more than the sum of its parks and buildings. We have a responsibility to the community and that’s a trust I never want to break." | |

Willamalane Park & Recreation District is a special purpose park and recreation district, established by a vote of the people in 1944, under Oregon State Statute Chapters 198–Special Districts Generally, and 266–Park and Recreation Districts. The District is funded through property taxes, fees and charges, and alternative revenue such as federal, state and local grants, and has its own legal authority, tax base, and boundaries which extend beyond the boundaries of the city of Springfield.
